Careful attention to tidal volume and respiratory rate is necessary to avoid dynamic hyperinflation and barotrauma.
  • Neuromuscular Disorders: Patients with neuromuscular disorders benefit from ACV by ensuring adequate ventilation in the presence of respiratory muscle weakness. The ventilator provides support while accommodating the patient's varying respiratory efforts.
  • Weaning from Mechanical Ventilation: ACV may be utilized during the weaning process in patients recovering from acute respiratory failure. By gradually reducing the level of ventilatory support while allowing patients to breathe spontaneously, ACV facilitates successful liberation from mechanical ventilation.
