What is DoveScore?
The DoveScore is a number (with a maximum of 100) that measures the accessibility and availability of any address using mathematical algorithms. For each location searched, the DoveScore analyzed the medical resources of hospitals, physicians, and nearby amenities. Points are given based on their distance to the amenities in each category. A decay function is used to give points to more distant facilities, with no points given after a 120-minute drive or 60 miles.
Data sources to calculate the same included the following:
- U.S. Census Bureau
- Council for Community and Economic Research
- Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
- Medical school websites
- And, various other proprietary sources
