In severe cases, blood levels of TCAs can be measured to confirm the overdose.

Management:

The management of TCA toxicity is multifaceted and aims to stabilize the patient, manage symptoms, and prevent further absorption of the drug. Key interventions include:

  • Airway management and support of breathing: Mechanical ventilation may be required in cases of severe respiratory depression.

Prompt and appropriate medical management can significantly improve outcomes. However, delayed treatment can lead to life-threatening complications, including cardiac arrest or seizures.
