  • Gaze Stabilization: The VOR works to stabilize gaze by generating eye movements that counteract head movements. When the head rotates, the VOR generates equal and opposite eye movements, allowing the eyes to remain fixed on a target despite head motion.
  • Visual Acuity Preservation: By maintaining a stable visual image on the retina during head movements, the VOR ensures clear and precise vision. It helps prevent blurring or visual distortions that would otherwise occur when the head is in motion.
