What is Lataste's Viper Snake Bite? (Definition/Background Information)

• The Lataste's viper (Vipera latastei) is a venomous snake found in some parts of Europe and northwestern Africa including in the nations Algeria, Morocco, Spain, and Tunisia. The snake belongs to the viper family or Viperidae and is found in altitudes ranging from mean sea level to up to 9,900 feet (3,030 m). There are several subspecies of Vipera latastei
• The Lataste's viper can grow to a maximum size of about 2.5 feet or so (males are larger than females), but the average adult size is often less than 1.5 feet.
