What is Epinephrine Injection?

Epinephrine is a natural hormone found within the body of humans. Epinephrine may be injected as part of temporary emergency medical treatments in the following situations:

Allergic reactions to certain foods
Insect bites/stings
Latex allergic reactions
Reactions to medications

Epinephrine Injections are common treatments for individuals undergoing an anaphylactic reaction (a life-threatening allergic reaction). The following are the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis:

Difficulty breathing
Skin rash
Weak pulse
Vomiting
Drop in blood pressure

Epinephrine Injections are frequently found in the form of an EpiPen. Individuals with severe allergies are advised to always carry an Epinephrine Auto-Injector with them in case of an allergen exposure. Individuals with severe allergies are told to use the autoinjector on the outside of their thigh to best distribute the epinephrine in the body.
