Biographical Information

Gregory G. Freund, MD, is the Interim Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Head of Pathology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He has extensive experience managing within a clinical laboratory environment. He has clinical expertise in diagnostic cytopathology and blood banking. Additionally, Dr. Freund has consulted for Fortune 100 companies within the laboratory medicine space. He has a basic science research program in neuroinflammation and is an NIH funded principal investigator who has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications. His current research focus concerns therapeutic strategies to prevent anxiety disorders and cognitive decline, especially as related to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
