Aastha is an undergraduate student at Northwestern University, where she is majoring in Neuroscience. Her commitment to healthcare and patient well-being is exemplified through her diverse experiences, including volunteering in Family Medicine and actively engaging with the oncology department at Carle Hospital through their Auxiliary/Terminal Care ward.

Driven by a desire to support patients both physically and mentally, Aastha took on the role of Project Leader for a project through the Segal Design Institute. She spearheaded the creation of a device aimed at aiding individuals with Fine Motor Control (FMC) and low grip strength to toilet independently. Her team's innovative solution, a touch-automated toilet paper dispenser integrated with other components, has provided patients with greater autonomy in their daily activities, reducing their reliance on assistance. Recognized for her outstanding contributions and commitment to diversity, Aastha was honored with the Wildcat Impact Award for Diversity from Northwestern University. This acknowledgment underscores her dedication to fostering inclusivity and equity within her community. With a passion for innovation and a strong focus on patient-centered care, Aastha is poised to continue making meaningful contributions to the field of healthcare as she studies to become a doctor.
