For this forgiveness meditation, we will use the AWE technique to mend relationships and to increase our capacity for forgiveness.
AWE stands for Acknowledge, Welcome, and Empathize. By acknowledging and welcoming our emotions, as well as the emotions of others, we are more able to understand ourselves and to understand others. By empathizing with our own emotions and the emotions of others, we can decrease anger or bias towards ourselves or others. Through this contemplation, we can see that each of us is not so different after all. Each one of us is working through our own concepts and our forms of suffering.
