What is Extramembranous Pregnancy? (Definition/Background Information)

  • Extramembranous Pregnancy is a rare condition that occurs when the fetal membranes rupture causing the developing fetus to be pushed into the endometrial cavity of the uterus
  • There are no risk factors or causative factors associated with Extramembranous Pregnancy
  • The signs and symptoms of the condition may include vaginal bleeding, lack of menstruation, and abdominal pain
  • Extramembranous Pregnancy may be diagnosed by a physical examination, evaluation of complete medical history, and an ultrasound scan of the abdomen
