Dr.Venkatesan Srinivasan, M.D., F.I.P.M., is a Senior Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Head of the Radiation Oncology and Clinical Research practicing in Dr. Kamakshi Memorial Hospital Private Limited, a Multi- Speciality Hospital with more than 500 beds in Chennai, India. He actively practices Radiation Therapy (IGRT, IMRT, 3DCRT) and Chemotherapy for all solid tumors from 1999 and has expertise in Interstitial Implant Brachytherapy especially perineal templates for Cervix & Prostate cancers. He has actively participated in more than 30 Multi-Centric, Multi-national clinical trials in oncology from phase I to phase IV including BA/BE studies as the Principal Investigator and is very much interested in collaborative Translational Research on Cancer Genomics. He has been audited by the DCGI and US FDA for his trial work without any observations. He trains radiation therapists in technological advances in the field of radiation and conducts training programs for nurses in handling of chemotherapy drugs and physiotherapy students in rehabilitation. He is instrumental in conducting cancer screening programs and to educate public on cancer prevention by life-style modification strategies. Dr.Venkatesan Srinivasan holds a MD from the prestigious Madras Medical College and has received many awards and fellowships in India and Abroad. To highlight some, he was the recipient of the Best Paper Award in doing Perineal Template Brachytherapy in Cancer Cervix at AROICON, Chennai (2004).He was awarded with Dr. Neal/ Dr. Joseph Fellowship for training in IMRT at Apollo Speciality Hospital, Chennai (2005). He was trained in Template Brachytherapy for Prostate Cancer at Peter MacCallum Cancer Center in Melbourne, Australia (2006). He was honored with Bursary Award from St.Christopher’s Hospice, the one started by Dame Cicely Saunders, the founder of the Hospice Movement in London, UK (2007). He was an invited faculty at the UICC workshop at AROICON, Chennai (2007). He also received the AROI- Dr.Reddy’s Fellowship for IMRT/IGRT training in Head & Neck Cancer at London Cancer Centre (LRCP), Ontario, Canada (2009).He has presented many papers and chaired many sessions in various conferences and CME programs across India. With his expertise he heads the Oncology Division at Dr. Kamakshi Memorial Hospital, a centre that provides comprehensive cancer care for all ages and stages of cancer.

His contribution to this DoveMed is to help people understand the effects and the side-effects of Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy and to understand the jargons used in this field of medicine.

Dr.Venkatesan Srinivasan believes that educating a common man on the various aspects of cancer and its treatment is very important. He interacts with students in the schools and colleges to educate them on the harmful effects of tobacco.
