Biographical Information
Mario Pacheco is an undergraduate student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) pursuing a degree in Integrative Biology and minoring in Chemistry. He currently is working for Dr. Charles Hillman’s Neurocognitive Kinesiology lab at UIUC conducting research on the cognitive benefits of physical activity. He is working towards publishing an investigation which found a positive dose-response association between participation in a physical activity intervention and inhibitory control in preadolescent children. Mario plays center for the University of Illinois Ice Hockey team, a sport which he began at the age of three. He is also an enthusiastic member of Best Buddies where he works to improve the lives of individuals with developmental or physical disabilities. Following graduation, Mario is applying to medical school with hopes of one day giving back to socioeconomically disadvantaged communities.
