Dr. Francisco J. Diaz received his medical degree in his native country, Dominican Republic and after that trained in Anatomic Pathology at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in affiliation with Temple University. His fellowship in forensic pathology was at the office of the chief medical examiner in the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in affiliation with Hahnemann University (now Drexel). After completing the fellowship Dr. Diaz joined the office of the medical examiner in Wayne County, Michigan in July 2001. During his career his has performed 8000 autopsies and testified hundreds of times in circuit, district and federal courts and civil depositions.In January 2012 with the affiliation of the medical examiners office of Wayne County and the University of Michigan Pathology department he was appointed to the faculty and holds the rank of assistant professor. Dr. Diaz is the author of 35 peer reviewed articles, abstracts and presentations and has been invited on numerous occasions to speak at regional, national and international conferences.
